چکیده
This paper presents a semi-analytical solution of undrained cylindrical cavity expansion/contraction problem using two-surface plasticity model for natural stiff clays from the view point poromechanics. The present reduces classical boundary into group seven first-order ordinary differential equations via an auxiliary independent variable ? under conditions. It strictly follows premise constant soil mass (CSM). Meanwhile, volume (CSV) is used comparison. shows that CSM assumption paramount importance in developing solutions high stress condition, while CSV induces non-negligible errors effective and pore pressure distributions. Based on CSM, extensive parametric studies are undertaken to investigate effects key parameters components distribution, excess expansion curves. could be useful dealing with geotechnical petroleum engineering problems involving or soft claystones. application Praclay Gallery excavation Boom clay well demonstrates validity solution.

Undrained Plane-strain Expansion of a Cylindrical Cavity in Clay: a Simple Interpretation of the Pressuremeter Test
A study is made of the problem of interpreting the results of Menard pressuremeter tests on soil in situ. In the test a cylindrical cavity is expanded by internal pressure, and the relation between applied pressure and cavity vulume change is measured. It is shown that the results of a single test are enough to determine a complete stress-strain relation in plane strain, and a simple graphical ...

A Strain Range Dependent Cyclic Plasticity Model
Hysteresis loop curves are highly important for numerical simulations of materials deformation under cyclic loadings. The models mainly take account of only the tensile half of the stabilized cycle in hysteresis loop for identification of the constants which don’t vary with accumulation of plastic strain and strain range of the hysteresis loop. This approach may be quite erroneous particularly ...
متن کاملQuantization of electromagnetic fields in a circular cylindrical cavity
We present a quantization procedure for the electromagnetic field in a circular cylindrical cavity with perfectly conducting walls, which is based on the decomposition of the field. A new decomposition procedure is proposed; all vector mode functions satisfying the boundary conditions are obtained with the help of this decomposition. After expanding the quantized field in terms of the vector mo...
متن کاملObservation of Nonlinear Mode in a Cylindrical Fabry-Perot Cavity
We report the first observation of a nonlinear mode in a cylindrical nonlinear FabryPerot cavity. The field enhancement from cavity buildup, as well as the large (3) optical nonlinearity due to resonantly-excited 85Rb vapor, allows the nonlinear mode to form at low incident optical powers of less than a milliwatt. The mode is observed to occur for both the self-focusing and self-defocusing nonl...
